Swallowed into the Soft Underbelly

Swallowed Into the Soft Underbelly collected recent sculptural and image based work by artists Kat Ryals and Kate Stone into an immersive installation that explored the psychology of interior spaces. The exhibition focused on the ways that interior decor describes the passage of time through the erosion and absorption of traces of human life. Leaning into the grotesque, the artists’ work considers the processes by which organic and inorganic matter changes form over time, revealing the muck that resides beneath the veneer of the spaces we inhabit. Swallowed Into the Soft Underbelly was curated by Tiffany Smith & Clare Britt at Ortega Y Gasset Projects in Brooklyn, NY and presented from April 2nd - May 1st, 2022.
